Chinanews, Beijing, Sept. 21 (By Ruan Yulin) - Chen Dongqi, vice
president of the Academy of Macroeconomic Research of the National
Development and Reform Commission, said on September 21 during the "2005
Beijing China International Real Estate Summit" being held in Beijing
that he estimated China's economy this year to grow at about a 9.2% rate.
Because China's economy has grown at 9% or more in each of the three
recent years, it is estimated that the tenth "Five Year Plan" will see
the country's annual growth around 8.8%.
Chen Dongqi said that in recent years, the rapid rate of growth in
China's economy has increasingly caught the attention of the world.
China's economy has made great contribution to the world economy and
China has obtained favorable opportunities in world markets.
Chen said that in the past five years, China's economy has operated at
hyper speed, investment and trade all showed trends of fast growth, with
periodic downward adjustment and fluctuations, such as China's economy
showing seasonally adjusted downward drift and fluctuation during the
SARS period, but for the whole year, the Chinese economy still showed a
stable expansionary tendency. During the 10th "fifth year plan", China's
economy has at times shown trends of excessively fast growth, to which
the Chinese government conducted adjustments through moderate methods,
assuring that the nation's economy would not have too great an imbalance
during this period and will not have wholesale "over-heating".
