Ride camel at the foot of Flaming Mount

www.chinanews.cn 2005-09-14 16:16:46

A tourist tied a scarf around the neck of a camel after dismounting from
it at the foot of the Flaming Mount on September 13. The Flaming Mount is
located in central Turpan Basin in Xinjiang. It is 98 km long from east
to west and 9 km long from north to south. Its highest point is 851
meters in altitude. The rolling, intertwining, wriggling and twisting
ranges are cloudy and misty with billows of heat waves under the
scorching sun. Every year from May through October, over 800,000 Chinese
and foreign tourists will visit here to experience the "flames" of the
mountain.
